Community Engagement and Development

We want a community where everyone can get involved and have an influence on issues that affect them

3.1 Communication and engagement between the Neighbourhood Partnership and people who live and work within the area

3.1.1. Identify and reduce barriers to engagement

1.  Develop a Neighbourhood Partnership equalities statement, research equalities communities in NP,  and develop an engagement plan to enable the NP’s activities to be reflective of BCR community

3.1.2. Widen awareness of and increase the number of people that engage with the NP

1.  Quarterly ward forums and one superforum per year

2.  Quarterly Neighbourhood Partnership (made more attractive, more interactive?)

3.  BCR Festival.  Plan, enlist and deliver

4.  Develop an NP equalities statement, research equalities communities in NP,  and develop an engagement plan to enable the NP’s activities to be reflective of BCR community

5.  E-newsletter, facebook, Twitter, website communications

6.  Develop an engagement plan for young people

7.  Develop the survey of people with Learning difficulties undertaken in Bishopston

8.  Engagement Plan for all of above

9 Increase number of community notice boards in area

3.1.3. Identify and share opportunities for community to influence decisions

2.  Current forum review.  Review NP meetings to explore improving accessibility

3.  ‘Open Space’ (or similar) event to confirm and/or update NP plan

4.  Communication and Engagement Group to develop Terms of reference

3.1.4. Identify and engage with local groups and organisations

1.  Map and Produce online directory of local community groups/activities

2.  Promote Small Grants Fund and provide advice on funding

3.2 Community facilities and activities.

3.2.1. Support the development of community facilities

1.  Ardagh (community building on Horfield Common).  Project Group of relevant officers and reps – Parks, Community Asset Transfer, Neighbourhood Officers and Neighbourhood Partnership rep(s)

2.  Promote Community Asset Transfer

3.  Opportunities arising from Libraries consultation – Summer 2015

4.  Other opportunities e.g. Green Capital, Local Sustainable Transport Fund etc – keep watching brief

3.2.2. Invest in community activities

1.  Seek funding through Small Grants Fund, Green Capital and others as arising

2.  Neighbourhood Partnership to use and promote venues in Neighbourhood Partnership area
