We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-organised events programme manager to coordinate the Bishopston, Cotham & Redland neighbourhood festival. This is a great opportunity to build and hone your skills and experience whilst helping our community.
For the last two years, ‘Our Neighbourhood Festival’ has comprised nearly 30 events over 9 days in early May, with all the events run by a wide range of local community groups – everything from street fairs to workshops, guided tours to performances, from markets to children’s activities. The festival is growing momentum, but we need more volunteers so it can continue and grow.
The role is to support the festival committee and liaise with community groups to draw up the festival programme. The job could include the following tasks:
- establishing a timetable and keeping us on track
- liaising with the Neighbourhood Partnership, including councillors and council officers
- drafting the festival programme
- writing social media and marketing material
You will be reliable, efficient and good at talking to people, in person and by email; planning and keeping yourself and others to a timetable; and understanding the issues of working with voluntary organisations.
Remuneration will be the warm glow you get from contributing to the success of our community festival, the experience you will gain, and the credit this will gain your CV! You will need a PC, phone and internet connection.
Time commitment: from December to mid May, a 2 hour meeting a week (evenings or daytime to suit you), plus approx 3 hours’ work between meetings in your own time. This could easily be a job-share – just contact us to talk through your ideas.
